Welcome to the Weight Lifting page, this is a guide to buying weight lifting equipment online in the UK. There is a wide range of weight training equipment available including weight benches, multi gyms and dumbells, there are also lots of popular manufacturers of weight training equipment including York, Weider, V-Fit, Sportline and Kettler.

Weight Lifting is a very popular form of exercise that is of a high intensity, it is intended to build muscle in the areas that you use to lift the weights. As it is an intensive exercise it should be done carefully, you should never to more than you can handle comfortably and you should always have a good rest between work outs, a days rest is generally recommended. There are various types of weight training equipment available that have different benefits, these include weight benches, the multi gym and dumbells.

Multi gyms are the most advanced of the weight lifting equipment you can buy, they offer a wide selection of weight lifting exercises and comfortable use. Multi gyms generally use a series of wires which are connected to the main weights at the back of the unit, this way the same weights are used for all of the different exercises that you do. The multigym will usually have at least two pulleys with handles which are connected to the wires, these are the handles that you pull to lift the weights. The muscles that are exercised depend on where you are sat or stood while you are working out, there are several different positions available and a multi gym will normally come with a wall chart detailing all of the available exercises and the muscle groups that they exercise. Multi gyms are more expensive than normal weight benches but offer much more in the way of different exercises and support, they are also safer as the weights are supported by the multigym whereas with weight benches the weights are held by the user. There are lots of brands that sell multi gyms and these include York, V-Fit, Weider, Sportline and Kettler.

Weight benches are weight lifting equipment that are more simple than a multi gym, they generally just have a simple bench with brackets for the weights to be held in. The idea is that you simply lie on the bench and lift the weights, there are also sometimes weights available for the legs. Weight benches do not normally come with any weights so this is something to keep in mind, remember you will have to buy separate weights to use with the bench. There are many brands that make weight benches and these include York, Sportline, Weider, V-Fit and Kettler.

The other type of weight lifting equipment that you can buy is the separate weights, these are called dumbells. Dumbells are small weights, they fit into a single hand and have a small metal bar with weights at either end. These are great if you do not have the room for a weight bench or multi gym, they also give the ability to work one arm at a time. There is also a variety of exercises that you can do with dumbells which are usually detailed in a plan that comes with the dumbells, the most popular dumbells are from York and Weider. The best thing about dumbells is that they are very cheap, they are fraction of the price of a multigym or weight bench and do offer some good weight training, if you want some cheap weight lifting equipment then they are the best choice. One more thing to remember about multi gyms and weight lifting benches is that they always come flat packed, you will have to build your new weight training equipment in the location you wish to use it. Location is also very important as they can sometimes be very large, most shops will list the dimensions of the equipment so that you can make sure you have room for the equipment.
